    Theatre in the Woods is a branch of AtmosTheatre which produces shows outdoors in Woodside's beautiful redwood forest. The venue features two stages and a variety of performance spots along trails. Its Main Stage features natural benches made out of redwood planks and stumps. Its Amphitheatre Stage at Harrington Creek features natural amphitheatre seating carved out of the hillside, with blankets provided. The acoustics are very good.

    Each performance is part of a guided hike through the forest where the audience is led to various performance spots along the trails. The forest incline makes for a leisurely and invigorating hike that enables audiences to escape the modern world and allow for an unforgettable theatrical experience.

    This outdoor site requires moderate hiking, so audiences are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes and clothing. Since it is in the forest, trees shade most of the site, so most of the seating is not in direct sunlight.

    The shows require a hike just under a mile roundtrip up and down a moderate grade on rustic trails. That said, the hike is done at a leisurely pace. Many people attending the shows are seniors and are easily able to hike along the rustic trails.
