Artist Detail
Julie Masterson
Actor
About the artist: Described by others as a joyous Christian who loves life and those she meets along the way as friends or loved ones, JULIE MASTERSON has been involved in performing in the area for a long time. Some of her favorite roles were Mrs. Modesto in "Mrs. California" with City Lights, Mama in I Remember Mama in one of the last plays to be performed at Old Town Theater in Los Gatos, and Mrs. Toothe in Everything in the Garden with Pacific Actors Company in Mountain View.
She has also appeared with Saratoga Drama Group as Mrs. Upson in Mame, Tabard Theatre as Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, Pear Avenue Theatre as Mother Bayard in The Long Christmas Dinner, and West Valley Theatre as Lady Lafew in Alls Well That Ends Well and Miss Preen in The Man Who Came To Dinner. She played Mrs. Potts in Picnic with Palo Alto Players in November 2004, played Jack's Mother in Into the Woods with Ohlone Theatre in June 2005 and most recently Gertrude in The Underpants with Broadway West in February 2006.
Julie has branched out into other media as well. She recently played the lead in the independent short film American Grass, she plays Karen in a developing episodic radio program called "Gaylord Gaylord", and she was invited to perform in two screenplay readings produced by IMAGE, an independent filmmakers group in Palo Alto.
Julie's future goals are to continue the way she has in theatre and other media, and to increasingly choose projects with "something to bank", as Julie believes payment for art means respect for the artist.
