Housed in the magnificent Old County Courthouse, the San Mateo County History Museum preserves the rich history of the county and makes it accessible to the public. It offers educational activities for school children, as well as a wide range of events concerning the history of the county – from tours of historic sites to lectures, discussions and family programs.

	Horsing Around in San Mateo County - Exhibition Presented by San Mateo County History Museum at San Mateo County History Museum September 12, 2009 - Ongoing Horses have had an enormous impact on the development of San Mateo County from the early 1800s, when vaqueros worked with horses on ranchos to modern day horse racing at Bay Meadows. The exhibit features twenty miniature saddles by local artist Reg Buyle and will be shown at the lower rotunda and hallways. 	Courthouse Docket - Victory... Tales of a Tuskegee Airman with Les Williams, Author Presented by San Mateo County History Museum at San Mateo County History Museum January 21, 2012 The Courthouse Docket series continues with local hero Captain Leslie "Les" Williams, an original Tuskegee Airman. Tuskegee Airmen is the term used to describe the black fighter pilots of the 99th Pursuit Squadron, later incorporated into the 332nd Fighter Group, who fought during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They were trained at Tuskegee Army Air Field in Tuskegee, Alabama. At twenty-two years old, Mr. Williams was drafted into the Army and enrolled in Courthouse Docket - Victory... 	An Enchanting Afternoon of Classical Chinese Arts Presented by San Mateo County History Museum at San Mateo County History Museum December 4, 2011 Discover China’s rich cultural heritage with world class musician Mei Xuan on the erhu, the Chinese version of the violin. An inspiring talk will be given by New Tang Dynasty TV news commentator, Nan Su, on the rebirth of traditional Chinese culture, and its impact today. A short video presentation on the artistry of Shen Yun will be shown, followed by a reception featuring delicious Chinese desserts from Ming’s of Palo Alto, and red wine from Napa Valley. 	Handbell Choir Concert Presented by San Mateo County History Museum at San Mateo County History Museum December 3, 2011 The San Francisco State University Handbell Choir will ring in the holiday season at the History Museum! Formed in 1997, the choir rings on four and a half octaves of Schulmerich handbells and three and a half octaves of hand chimes. Caroline Harnly, a librarian at SFSU, is the group’s director and founder. She has been ringing handbells for over thirty years. The choir will perform a variety of holiday tunes.
