Music at Kohl Mansion

Music at Kohl Mansion is dedicated to enhancing the cultural fabric of the Peninsula by providing quality chamber music and music education in the unique and historic setting of the Kohl Mansion and in local schools. Located on the Mercy High School campus, it is a jewel-like setting for fine music. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, this 1914 landmark features a gracious setting in the Elizabethan-style Great Hall for intimate music on a grand scale. It is the perfect venue for the variety of musical programs offered. These include The Chamber Series, The Family Series (fun, interactive, one-hour concerts), and Daytime Children’s Concerts (forty-five minutes of musical entertainment for children of all ages). After each concert, a reception is held within the lovely setting of the Mansion, where audience and artists meet and mingle in a single interactive community.

From its inception, Music at Kohl Mansion has considered music education for children a central part of its mission. Students with experience in the arts score highest on tests of creativity, expression and problem-solving. Establishing a vital and engaging relationship with music gives students a gift that will continue to enrich and delight them for life. Music at Kohl Mansion has supplemented school programs in a variety of ways, including providing over thirty-six interactive workshops and thirty classroom sessions per year for more than 3,500 San Mateo County children.
