Picturing Paradise... Cuadros by Peruvian Women - Exhibition

Picturing Paradise is an exhibition featuring embroidered and appliquéd fabric pictures called cuadros, created by women of Compacto Humano and Manos Ancashinas, two art cooperatives located in Pamplona Alta, a shantytown situated on the outskirts of Lima, Peru. The exhibition places emphasis on the women as artists and the way their art reflects a profound sense of resilience, spirituality, and hope despite the harsh conditions of their lives.

The Graduate Art Therapy Student Association presents an exhibition of artwork by students, faculty, and alumni at the Weigand Gallery. The featured artist for this event is Kristina Bell Di Tullo with musical performance by Curt Vagi and poetry performance by Nick Ross. The Wiegand Gallery at Notre Dame de Namur University is proud to present Donna Cehrs: Still Life and Portrait Paintings. Her highly observed, complex, and meticulously painted canvases combine natural forms with man-made objects. Each work is a metaphor portraying the human condition and evinces the passage of time. The exhibition will also feature portraits of children which a lesser-known body of work by the artist.

Mercedes Matter - The Hofmann Years

The thirty drawings in Mercedes Matter: the Hofmann Years date from 1938 when Matter studied with Hans Hofmann at the Art Students League and at his summer school in Gloucester, Massachusetts. In addition to being Hofmann’s student Matter was a close friend. She was influenced by Hofmann’s theories and approaches to abstraction throughout her life.
