Sebastian Seung, a dynamic young professor at MIT, is at the forefront of a revolution in neuroscience He believes that our identity lies not in our genes, but in the connections between our brain cells--our own particular wiring

Seung and a dedicated group of researchers are leading the effort to map these connections, neuron by neuron, synapse by synapse It is a monumental effort--the scientific equivalent of climbing Mount Everest--but if they succeed, they will uncover the basis of personality, identity, intelligence, memory, and perhaps disorders such as autism and schizophrenia Seung explains how this new map of a human "connectome" might even enable us to "upload" our brains into a computer, making us effectively immortal

Sebastian Seung is Professor of Computational Neuroscience at MIT and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute He has made important advances in robotics, neuroscience, neuroeconomics, and statistical physics His research has been published in leading scientific journals, and also featured in The New York Times, Technology Review, and The Economist

For years, long lost information about the man that was literally instrumental in Charles Lindbergh's famous transatlantic flight sat forgotten in Bob Dye's home

Dye ran across the old newspaper and magazine clippings, telegrams, and letters about Brice Goldsborough one day when rifling through some old boxes As he read them he began to realize how much Goldsborough contributed to early aviation

Brice Goldsborough made a big impression in a short time In 1919 he started Pioneer Instrument Company, a firm that became one of the world's largest aviation instrument producers It was Goldsborough who designed, built, and installed the instrument panel for Lindbergh's famous plane, the Spirit of St Louis He also became associated with other famous names in aviation such as Glenn Curtiss, Clyde Cessna, Walter Beech, and Igor Sikorsky

To learn more about this forgotten aviator come listen to Author Bob Dye talk about Brice Goldsborough in his book, A Pioneer in Aviation: The Life Story of Brice Goldsborough There will be a book signing after the presentation

Hector has trouble differentiating the letters D and G Thus when he writes a request for a fairy godfather, the Fairy Dogfather arrives instead, wearing a fedora and smoking a cigar He isn't what Hector had in mind at all He uses big words, and instead of simply granting Hector's wishes, like a regular fairy godmother, he is a rather demanding visitor Hector needs a present for his Mom's birthday right away Can the Fairy Dogfather help grant his wishes?
