    27strings is a fresh and energetic bluegrass band known for its strong vocals, great harmonies, and fast-paced fiddle tunes.     27strings is a fresh and energetic bluegrass band known for its strong vocals, great harmonies, and fast-paced fiddle tunes. The five musicians in the group played together socially for about two years before forming the band in February, 2009. Since then they’ve played a variety of events and venues throughout the Bay Area. Heavily influenced by both bluegrass originals (Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Hazel Dickens) and more recent performers (Alison Krauss, Chris Thiele, Tony Rice), the group does justice to a variety of songs and tunes. Greg Frees is an outstanding mandolin player and arranges much of their material. Tom Bull charms audiences with his energetic vocals and powerful guitar. Aric Wilmunder on fiddle and Hildy Licht on banjo add color, depth, and drive to the music, and Anne Adams, on bass and tenor, holds down the beat.
