Self injury, more commonly known as cutting, burning, and bruising, is a negative coping mechanism which has long been ignored, due to the secrecy and shame surrounding the issue. The information and support available for those dealing with this issue is, at best, limited. This show is the story of one person's journey. The main character is comprised of real stories from many people dealing with self injury. The supporting cast arises from the experiences of friends, family, and the medical community encountering it second hand.

This is a story of hope. This is an educational tale. This is a story of courage. It's time for the secrecy and shame to end. No one should have to suffer in silence. Coping Through Pain is a 40 minute show, followed by a 20 minute talkback. The show is written and directed by Elizabeth Fatum.
