A lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Winters’ first performance here took place at an "open mic" night at the world-renowned Mill Valley club, Sweetwater, where she won first prize to a standing ovation. She proceeded to perform there for many years in a solo acoustic setting, and later began to perform in San Francisco in a quartet setting. It was during this phase that she met the highly acclaimed pianist/arranger Frank Martin, with whom she has been collaborating ever since. Other collaborations with notable Bay Area luminaries over the years have included legendary drummer Tony Williams, singers Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon and Brazilian guitarist Jose Neto. All of this experience and passion has led to the release of Deborah Winters' long-awaited debut recording, Live in Session. "Deborah possesses a glorious voice that soars to the stratosphere and then plummets to earth, leaving the listener breathless. Her songs are replete with intense human emotion and lyrics that touch the core of our soul..so many men and women tell me that her songs move them to tears. Her music can move mountains."
