    A supremely gifted singer/entertainer fluent in soul, jazz and R&B stylings, Nicolas Bearde has been compared to vocal icons like Lou Rawls, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, and Jon Lucien. Comparisons do not capture his vocal artistry on record or in performance. In addition to his high-profile role with Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra – the innovative a cappella group of which Nicolas was a founding member – and SoVoSo, the artistic offshoot of Voicestra, with whom he’s toured and recorded since the mid-1990s, Bearde has worked steadily with artists Patti Austin, Michael Bolton, Janis Siegel, John Handy, Chris Camozzi, and his own outstanding group, the Right Groove. He’s cut three albums for Right Groove Records, his own imprint. the first, 1998's Crossing the Line, the 2005 follow-up All About Love and 2008's Live at Yoshi's - A Salute to Lou. Bearde also maintains a busy sideline as an actor for stage, screen, and television and as a voice-over artist. Travel in recent years has included Russian, European and East Coast tours, with a Carnegie Hall appearance, and recent standout work at Yoshi’s Jazz House in Oakland, playing Coltrane’s Naima with John R Burr.
