    This year the Peninsula Youth Ballet (PYB) Company will present an evening of classical/neo classical ballet and contemporary dance at the annual 2009 Spring Gala Concert.     This year the Peninsula Youth Ballet (PYB) Company will present an evening of classical/neo classical ballet and contemporary dance at the annual 2009 Spring Gala Concert. This event features PYB’s talented future stars performing their top winning numbers from numerous national competitions, such as Le Corsaire Pas de Deux, Harlequinade Pas de Deux, Velocity, Salon Masquerade and Eastern Journey. Michael Lowe’s Eastern Journey just received the highest adjudication, the Ultimate Challenge Champion, at the International Dance Challenge in May of 2009. In addition to the group dances, PYB will showcase many of the Bay Area’s promising young dancers’ solo numbers.

    Many professional guest dancers will be performing, including Flames of Paris Pas de Deux with Amy Briones (alumni of Ayako School of Ballet) and Akira Takahashi, both of whom are from Ballet San Jose. Circ will be presented by Maria Lamance and Coreen Danaher of Moving Arts. The evening will also include presentations by Mariko Takahashi (alumni of Ayako School of Ballet) and Ethan White, both of whom are from the Oakland Ballet and Smuin SF. These dancers have joined together to embrace the leading roles of Michael Lowe’s world premier story ballet.
