    From the Coast to the Foothills is a celebration of the beautiful Northern California landscape. Julia’s plein air oil paintings express the fragile beauty of the San Francisco Peninsula from the San Mateo beaches to the open hillsides around Silicon Valley.     From the Coast to the Foothills is a celebration of the beautiful Northern California landscape. Julia’s plein air oil paintings express the fragile beauty of the San Francisco Peninsula from the San Mateo beaches to the open hillsides around Silicon Valley. The show includes paintings of striking ocean cliffs with dramatic coastal cypress and views from along the back roads of our remaining orchards and farms. Julia’s rich impressionistic brush work is inspired by the early California painters, and her love of nature. Her works provide a glimpse of our rich past evoking memories of a gentler time, soothing the soul of the viewer and highlighting the need to preserve what is left.

    Seelos regularly participates in events throughout California that raise funds to preserve the open spaces such as the LaMorinda Show in Lafayette, Friends of the Redwoods - Russian River Plein Air at Duncan Mills, Hidden Villa Plein Air and the Committee to Save the Green Foothills in Los Altos.

    Julia has been juried into this year’s prestigious Carmel Art Festival, the Borrego Springs Plein Air and the Southwest Plein Air event in Canyon de Chelly. Her painting, Bayside Boathouse of the Palo Alto Boathouse won first place in the Santa Cruz 78th statewide show in Santa Cruz and will be featured in this show.
