The Allied Arts Guild Auxiliary invites you to join them for a very special event benefiting the Bass Center for Childhood Cancer at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, a talk by Pearl Sofaer, author of Baghdad to Bombay: In the Kitchens of my Cousins. The talk will be followed by a luncheon in the Red Currant Café at Allied Arts featuring foods from Baghdad to Bombay. After lunch, each guest will also receive a signed, personalized copy of the book. The ticket price of $65 includes the lecture, a signed copy of the book, and the luncheon. $20.00 of the ticket price will be donated to the Bass Center for Childhood Cancer at LPCH.

Pearl Sofaer’s family are Mizrahi Jews who, until a few generations ago, lived in Babylon and Baghdad for 2,600 years. In the last three generations, they have scattered to the four corners of the earth, maintaining their cherished Jewish - Arabic recipes and incorporating new ones from every place they have landed or visited or married into. Pearl's family lived in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, and she has written a family memoir and cookbook describing all the history and the cuisines of her extended family. Pearl has lectured all over the U.S. and Canada, as well as for the Library of Congress, where she has been invited to return.
