The Caldwell Gallery at the San Mateo County Hall of Justice in Redwood City presents a small group show featuring oil paintings by Tom Chapman, Kit Colman, Vicki Coe Mitchell and watercolors by Alisan Andrews. Much of the artwork depicts San Mateo County scenes, from Woodside Horse Park to Montara Beach.

Tom Chapman, a former horse jockey, is now a full-time artist who highlights his love and knowledge of horses in much of his art. Kit Colman, a landscape oil painter, grew up in the Silicon Bay Area and her artwork in inspired by the beauty of California. A longtime Woodside resident and physician, Vicki Coe Mitchell, spends much time painting outdoors where she enjoys capturing sea and landscapes. Alisan Andrews, a former oil painter, explored watercolors in 1995 and hasn't stopped since. She is fascinated with colors and how they work together.

In addition, the Hall of Justice Community Gallery (downstairs by the cafe) is proud to showcase tranquil abstract acrylic paintings on concrete boards by Pescadero resident, Lora Groves. Groves explains her newest work: "I explore the archive of qualities available with a sturdier surface. It is a nice play off the porosity of the fabric because concrete has it's own variable porosity, but stands a different kind of working process."

Finally, The Rotunda Gallery at 555 County Center is pleased to exhibit sculpture and hanging mobiles by Dave Putnam, Woodside resident. Putnman's work concentrates on raising awareness of endangered animal species. By twisting thousands of strands of stainless steel wire together, he weaves furry animal shapes, as well as using brass and aluminum in his kinetic mobiles.
