Peninsula painter Decker Walker exhibits paintings of the local landscape done in seasons other than summer. His small oil paintings, done outdoors in nearby parks and gardens, feature the beauties of our local countryside in other seasons. Peninsula painter Decker Walker exhibits paintings of the local landscape done in seasons other than summer. His small oil paintings, done outdoors in nearby parks and gardens, feature the beauties of our local countryside in other seasons. California is justly famous for its sunny summer landscapes – golden hills, deep blue skies, bronzed greens of oak trees, purple mountains. The same landscape shows a different face in other seasons -- cooler less brash colors, more spare, more modest, more varied and also beautiful in other ways. A paler sun casts long shadows over bright green newly sprouted grasses, grey overcast shows off the brilliant colors of fall foliage and winter berries, silvery reflections glitter on rainy days. These are the subtler beauties Walker seeks to capture in these outdoor paintings.

Decker Walker has been painting in and around the Peninsula for ten years. He paints landscape, still life, figures, and portraits. He studied with many local painters including Brigitte Curt and Jim Smyth, Bob Gerbracht, Van Waldron, Michael Kirschel among others, and has taken workshops with nationally known artists including Ray Roberts and Peggi Kroll-Roberts, Randall Sexton, Ovanes Berberian, Kim English, Michael Situ, and Carolyn Anderson, among others. He is a member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, the Portrait Society of America, the California Art Club, the Pacific Art League of Palo Alto, and is a signature member of the Society of Western Artists.
