A graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts, majoring in graphic design. Ms Woods started Woods Graphic and Signs in 1978, later in 1983 Woods Designs in Burlingame. She has tried various media and has felt sparked by vibrant colors which she says are made for attention getting.

She created "art to wear" with a partner in the late 1980's. It started with painted shoes and went on to everything wearable. She is of the opinion that art can go anywhere on anything.

She found a new enjoyable source of paintable surface with the first painted furniture, and by taking something that was discarded she was not only re-inventing it but regenerating new life with it. Every piece is one of a kind; she strips the existing paint from the wood, then puts her own paint right back on. Sometimes the color combinations are derived from the materials that will make up the cushion; other times the piece dictates the design to which she likes to add whimsy.

Ms. Woods says that most of our lives are spent growing up trying to fit in, much later for most we try to distinguish ourselves from everyone else. With life being so serious and a struggle, having some fun in one's house is revitalizing with a connection to the "whimsical world."

Ms. Woods has painted faces at the Kings Mountain Art Faire for 20 years. She is a member of the Highlands Artists Salon.
