    The Soul Providers was born in 2009 as the inspiration of Rich Armstrong, well-known trumpet player and touring multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Michelle Shocked. He brought together a small group of musicians to create a particular sound and spirit. Since then, the band has grown to twelve members, including vocalists and instrumentalists.     The Soul Providers was born in 2009 as the inspiration of Rich Armstrong, well-known trumpet player and touring multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Michelle Shocked. He brought together a small group of musicians to create a particular sound and spirit. Since then, the band has grown to twelve members, including vocalists and instrumentalists. They play at local venues, with their signature pop cover tunes from the 60s and 80s, designed to get people dancing.

    “I had no idea how this band was going to take on a life of its own,” says Rich. “We are constantly adding to our sound and widening our repertoire. The Soul Providers take pride in their stage presence and contagious energy. No one can listen without tapping a toe, and soon toe-tapping turns into full-out dancing.
