A longtime participant and “Best of Show” winner in the San Mateo County Fair’s Fine Arts Division, Teresa Silvestri of Belmont, is honored to be a highlighted artist at this year’s San Mateo County Fair Fine Arts Galleria, which will run June 11 through June 19. Her watercolor show From Labradors to Landscapes will feature everything from still lifes and landscapes to the animals and wildlife she is most noted. Silvestri is well-known for her watercolor commissions of pet portraits. There will be a “Meet the Artist Day” with prints and cards for sale on Sunday, June 12, from 12pm until 5pm.

Silvestri’s representational painting style is known for its softness, utilizing many layers of washes and glazes. This exhibit will feature new works inspired by the artist’s love and respect for all animals. Silvestri receives her inspiration from beautiful things found in nature, as well as our long time companions--the animals who share our homes and are part of our families as well as the sentient beings that populate our wetlands, our forests and our yards.

Silvestri has won numerous awards in local and regional shows including “Best of Show” in Watercolors at the 2008 San Mateo County Fair. She is an artist member of The Main Gallery in Redwood City, and enjoys participating in many group exhibits at Filoli Garden Estate, Society of Western Artists, California Watercolor Association and Burlingame Art Society. Her pet images are licensed on textiles, such, as aprons, tote bags and shirts, by Flying Panda, Gifts for Pets and Their People. Her artwork resides in collections nationwide and she welcomes commissions for pet portraits, capturing each animal’s personality.
