Who wrote Shakespeare's plays? Shakespeare, of course! Not according to Amy Freed, who explores one of many conspiracy theories regarding the authorship of Shakespeare's plays. In The Beard of Avon, Shakespeare strikes a deal with nobleman Edward de Vere, becoming the frontman for a playwright whose plays would otherwise never see the light of Elizabethan day, let alone our bookshelves today!
