Join PEERS at this science fiction shindig for a rip-roaring, swashbuckling evening of music, dancing and optional role-playing at their serene tribute to their favorite outer space western. Bangers & Mash, that shiniest of bands in the 'verse, whom some of you remember from the Browncoats' Ball in San Francisco, plays an evening of 19th century dances and neo-19th century dance reconstructions in keeping with the evening's theme. Dance waltzes, polkas, mazurka waltzes, schottisches, Celtic and Neo-Celtic reels, contradances, and other popular couple and set dances of the future (all pattern dances will be briefly taught or called at the ball), including such perennial space traveler's favorites as the Blue Danube Waltz, the Congress of Vienna, Sir Roger de Coverley, and Inara's Waltz Cotillion. There will also be D.J. dance music of a more modern style at intermission.

Western, 19th or neo-19th century costume, or science fiction/fantasy costume from any universe is admired, not required, and creative blending of past and future styles is always encouraged (Just now, Old West, Chinese and Indian motifs are fashionable and, of course Browncoats are extremely welcome!). Modern evening dress of the 21st century is just fine, too. They don’t care what you wear, ‘long as it’s legal.

There will be a no-host (cash) bar, soft drinks for sale for temperance folk and minors, and a complimentary light buffet of Neo-Western snacks. Given local food shortages, your potluck contributions to the buffet are appreciated!
