	Woodshed Dance - 2nd Tuesdays Presented by Bay Area Country Dance Society at Holbrook Palmer Park December 13, 2011 - Ongoing The woodshed series is an opportunity for callers (or would-be callers) and musicians (or would-be musicians) to try out new (or new-to-them) material. Callers present dances--typically English or contra--and ask the dancers for feedback on particular or general points. When it is not their turn to call, they also dance. In addition to some experienced dance musicians, the band is open--best for players who can sight-read or learn by ear quickly and play up to dance tempo. 	Folkdances of Hungary and Transylvania - Drop-In Class Presented by City of Menlo Park at Arrillaga Family Recreation Center January 3-March 27, 2012 This class teaches authentic Hungarian, Romanian, and Gypsy dances. These folkdances, centuries old, resemble ballroom dances on steroids. They are still done today at dance clubs throughout Hungary by people of all ages. There are mostly couple dances, but there will also be some men’s and women’s dances. Todd Wagner will teach the men’s parts and Sarah Tull will teach the women’s parts. Ponzio will guide students through the process of sculpting from life in traditional water based clay, on a wooden armature. Using direct observation, students will learn to read and describe the structural elements of the portrait, and then to explore the form, likeness, and expression of the sitter. Composition as it relates to portrait sculpture will also be discussed. 	Zara Raab and Jeanne Wagner - Creative Writers Series Presented by Notre Dame de Namur University February 15, 2012 Zara Raab lives in Berkeley, but she grew up on the North Coast, where her ancestors farmed, raised cattle and harvested tan oak. Her poems appear in River Styx, Crab Orchard Review, Evansville Review, and elsewhere. Her most recent book is Swimming the Eel (David Robert Books, 2011).
